Staff at Newmarket’s Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa are celebrating after winning a two local awards including ‘First for Hotels’ and ‘First for Diet and Fitness’ with a ‘Highly Commended’ accolade for Weddings.
This isn’t the first time they have won Velvet magazine’s “First for Hotels” category but winning the “First for Diet and Fitness” award for the first time was the icing on the cake.
It is particularly pleasing for Chief Executive Noel Byrne and his team since it was a public vote that secured their place. Thousands of readers of Velvet magazine visited their website www.velvetmag.co.uk to vote for their favourite venues and health and fitness facilities across Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Saffron Walden and Ely.
Paul Simmons, Leisure Club Manager at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, said: “We are really pleased. But we know we have a quality product not to mention good staff and facilities, which are state of the art.
“We make sure we look after all our members. We are constantly updating our leisure offerings and reviewing our dance studio timetable to ensure the best experience for members.”
Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa is the only four-star hotel in Newmarket. It has 77 stylish guest rooms, is set in three acres of secluded rose gardens and recently opened a new £5.5 million destination spa in July of this year.
Noel said: “This really is an accomplishment for the hotel and the staff after a year of expansion. This was a public vote so it is a tremendous accolade for our team and I just want to congratulate them on their achievement.”
Awards were presented at the annual Velvet awards ceremony, held this year on Newmarket’s High Street.
The Bedford Lodge Hotel was originally a Georgian Hunting Lodge built for the Duke of Bedford in the 18th century. Today the hotel offers the very best in modern comfort and luxury while retaining the charm and character of its country-house beginnings.
As well as its health and fitness club and impressive conference facilities, is also licensed for civil ceremonies, contains three self-contained banqueting suites and can accommodate celebrations from 10 to 150 guests.
