Charity Of The Year!

East Anglian Air Ambulance

We are thrilled to announce East Anglian Air Ambulance as our charity of the year for 2019-20, following a staff vote which involved all members of staff at the Hotel & Spa.

Over the course of the year, we plan to organise and take part in a variety of activities and events to raise awareness and funds for this crucial charity.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance service exists to save lives by delivering highly skilled doctors and critical care paramedics by air or car to seriously ill or injured people across East Anglia. The life-saving charity is only kept airborne due to donations from supporters.

This year’s charity was selected through a process engaging all of our team members at the Hotel & Spa. First, a shortlist of charities was compiled through staff nominations, and then each member of staff was asked to vote for their preferred charity to determine the chosen charity for the year. This year, East Anglian Air Ambulance was the clear winner with a large majority of votes.

Sean Melville, Executive Head Chef at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, who nominated East Anglian Air Ambulance, said: “I nominated the East Anglian Air Ambulance as I have had dealings with them in my role as a First Responder and have seen first-hand the amazing work they do – they make a real difference in the care of casualties. The charity is completely self-funded, through donations and charity work and I am aware that their plan is to start to cover 24hrs a day. For this, they will need to raise a vast amount of money, so I am confident our support will be enormously valuable to them.”

Noel Byrne, Chief Executive at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa, commented: “We’ve previously had a lot of fun raising money for charities that we have worked with – from bake sales to charity skydives – it is great to see the money go to such worthy causes and truly make a difference. We are always keen on choosing a charity that is reasonably local to the Hotel, ensuring that the funds we raise are benefitting our local community. Asking the team to vote for their chosen charity provides us with a great drive for our fundraising activities as it allows us to support an issue that everyone is passionate about. We are all looking forward to seeing what 2019 brings in terms of exciting and original fundraising activities for our staff to take on!”
